Formation for six sisters of the community

ree

The first young African women were welcomed in 1946 by Mother Marie-Agathe Funk (Loppem Monastery, Belgium).

In 1965, the community joined the Benedictine congregation of the Queen of Apostles, of which the monastery of Loppem was already a member. After several transfers, the monastery is now located in a rapidly growing suburb of Lubumbashi, where the community has to deal with numerous requests for help from the poorest people.

The community of Saint-Sauveur (Lubumbashi) runs several nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as a literacy centre and a Christian training course for adults. In addition, it welcomes retreatants in its small guesthouse and works in the fields and mill.
